Happy New Year to all St. Ann’s School families!
I certainly hope that all parents, students and staff enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday recess. As many of us approach a new calendar year with resolutions grounded in renewed hope, energy and optimism, and a sense of commitment to growth and success, we seek to impart and cultivate the same feelings with students. With the start of a new semester, there is sufficient time for students to renew their commitment to academic success and excellence by seeking extra help from teachers, completing unfinished projects and papers, and preparing for exams. Please partner with the members of the professional staff in making the second semester successful for every student. We will be celebrating National Catholic Schools Week during the week of January 25th. This is always an enjoyable week of activities to celebrate our St. Ann’s School. The 2009 theme is "Celebrate Service." One of the hallmarks of Catholic education is service especially here at St. Ann’s School. Our students participate in many service projects and our families should be commended for their participation in such positive acts. During Catholic Schools Week (CSW), many events are planned to celebrate our students, parents, grandparents, volunteers and staff members. Skating parties are scheduled for the students (check calendar). We are asking our students who wear their uniform to Mass (at any parish) to show support for Catholic education on the weekend of January 24th and 25th. Students who wear their uniforms to Mass will be given an out-of-uniform day on Wednesday, January 28th. On Tuesday, January 27th, our parents and grandparents are invited to visit your child’s classroom and stay for lunch. The only thing we ask is to preorder so we have enough food and space for everyone. The staff members will be treated to a special lunch where we all get to eat with each other. That does not happen often because of our schedules. On Thursday, we will have an Open House and invite the public to come and see what St. Ann’s School has to offer. School Board, PTO and student ambassadors will help with the Open House. Events are posted on the calendar in the back of the January Pipeline. Further information will be sent home in the Tuesday Folder. In advance, thank you to all the volunteers who will help with CSW. Come and celebrate the week with us!!! Please accept my best wishes that you and your entire family enjoy peace, health, and happiness in the New Year. Joan Wilmes
