Oops! Parent Letter Mistake

The summer letter was just mailed yesterday and even with rereads and reviews, there is a mistake. Meet the Teacher is on Friday, August 14th. I believe the letter states Monday so please plan on visiting on Friday, August 14th. School begins Monday, August 17th.

I have been getting the question on why we start early. The state requires schools to have 180 student days and 10 teacher inservice days. Schools can ask for waivers from their superintendents. Our superintendent does not believe in waivers or should I say I have not been able to convince her that we should shorten our school year just because of MISD. So we tend to put our days upfront of the school days rather than add them to the end of the year. I know for some of you this effects vacations but it works better than when everyone is ready for summer at the end of the school year. So that is the answer to why St. Ann's School goes to school 180 days.

School Board

We would like to thank our retiring School Board members, Patrick Cordero, Linda Honeyfield and Jesse Ochoa, for their service to St. Ann's School. They have provided us with wise council over the three years they have served. We welcome our new board members, Jeff Durgin, Virginia Elinzondo, and Gloria Gruenwald.
